So now I'm working with David Gaddie (A.K.A "mah boi") on our idea we're calling student taxi. Carpool would be a better name. we want to setup a system in which students who struggle to make it to school can be setup with volunteer students to give regular rides to school, like a regular car-pool. On Monday (Dec - 9) we're meeting with The head honcho to propose our idea, even if it can't be taken up as an official school project, he may have valuable advice.
Our main outlines are about standards, obvious stuff really, volunteer students should have a drivers license, not that it means they're qualified to drive, i'm looking at you Mr."Street-Legends" who always parks in the Eagles arena parking lot, daddy buys him a decked out Corolla and twice now I've seen him almost totally total himself. Cars must have insurance, working airbags and seat belts. And other things a car needs to run safely.
We also have it specified that tire tread must be at least 6/32" in depth, this is generally the standard for driving in snow. (or at all mind you) This should stop students from "Whipping Sh*ties" on bald tires, excuse the profanity, it's just what my mom would call them.
So we'ill see how this all goes, I'm looking forward to it, just from our limited sample size of a class there is already two students who in the past would have greatly benefited from this. I'm excited thinking about it, and nervous. I would like to be one of the volunteers who checks up on a car and reads complaints/reviews from students receiving rides.
I think it will be a blast, goodbye for a while, or maybe forever if something crazy happens.
